ASVEL Stands Tall Atop LNB Pro A Standings

LNB Pro A The LNB Pro A league closed out Round 12 of its 2018-19 regular season yesterday with an 88-95 win by  Pau-Lacq-Orthez over Chalons-Reims. The win propels Pau-Lacq-Orthez to sixth place in the league standings on the merits of their 7-5 record. They share identical records with Bourg and Levallois in a middle-of-the-pack kind of race.

The second to fourth places in the LNB Pro A remain stable with Strasbourg, Dijon, and Gravelines all tied up with 8-4 records.

One of the most interesting games of the round was played on Sunday between Le Portel and ASVEL. It was a close game with the league leaders narrowly edging out Le Portel 69-72 for the road win. This was the 10th win for ASVEL on the season and it helps them retain their solo lead of the standings. Mantas Kanietis and DeMarcus Nelson spearheaded the win for ASVEL, scoring 14 and 15 points, respectively. ASVEL has been having an awesome start to the season, not just at home but in international competitions as well. They’re tied with Valencia Basket in Group C of the 7Days EuroCup with 6-2 records.

ASVEL is clearly the team to beat in the LNB Pro A but will they have enough in the tank to follow through and take home the gold after all is said and done? We will see. And for sure, following their journey in 2018-19 will be must-watch basketball for French hoops fans from all over.
