Andrey Vatutin, CSKA Moscow President Assaulted

Andrey Vatutin, the president and CEO of Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow was attacked by unknown assailants in the Russian capital on Monday, December 21st. The 42-year-old basketball executive jumped as he exited a store and headed to his car on Monday night. He was beaten with a rubber hammer.

Vatutin sustained a fracture to his upper jaw and injuries to his hands and feet. He was hospitalized immediately. The local authorities have opened a criminal case in reference to the attack.

Andrey was elected as president of CSKA Moscow in 2009. He is also currently the Vice-President of the VTB United League

“We as the VTB League are shocked by what happened. We all wish Andrei a speedy recovery, we are very worried about him and what happened was really disturbing” – Alexander Fedotov, deputy general director of VTB United League.
