Andreas Wenzl to hang up his court shoes

Andreas Wenzl

Andreas Wenzl (210 cm) has decided that he’s retiring from basketball saying that, “I’ve lost the fire for basketball.” The 19-year-old, standing nearly 7’0″ tall (210cm), suffered a meniscus injury in 2012 and had sit out of training and competition with his current club, Ratiopharm Ulm (Germany-BBL) until December, while undergoing physical therapy. When he returned to the court he says it just wasn’t the same and he’s decided that it’s time to focus on his future vocation.

“We wish Andy all the best for his future, and I have not given up hope that one day he discovered a desire for basketball again,” laments Dr. Thomas Stoll, Ulm co-founder and managing partner of basketball, on Wenzl’s decision.
