A congressman from the Philippines has filed two separate bills seeking the naturalization of NBA centers JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche. The Philippines National Basketball Team is looking for a naturalized player to reinforce its roster for the upcoming 2014 Basketball World Cup to be held in Spain this August.
McGee, the starting center of the Denver Nuggets, is dealing with a stress fracture in left tibia and will be unavailable to compete for the Philippine team during the competition.
Blatche has expressed interest in playing for the Philippines. As a reserve forward-center for the Brooklyn Nets, Andray was recently thrust into a bigger role for his team after it lost starter Brook Lopez for the season due to a broken foot.
