7Days EuroCup

The 7Days EuroCup closed out Round of its Top 16 action on Thursday with the last two remaining games. In Group E ALBA Berlin downed a visiting AS Monaco 83-74.

Luke Sikma led four other teammates to score in double figures with his 17 points and five assists for the night. Tim Schneider added 16 points of his own in the winning effort.

In stark contrast, Monaco leaned heavily on two players to power their offense in the game. Elmedin Kikanovic scored a game-high 26 points on efficient shooting. Paul Lacombe chimed in for Monaco with a double-double performance featuring 20 points and 10 rebounds. It was a case of too little, too late for Monaco as they mounted a fourth quarter run to cut into the double digit advantage set up by Berlin.

In Group F, Ratiopharm Ulm secured their first win of the top-16 thanks to a successful homecourt defense against a visiting Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt, 70-63. Javonte Green exploded for 20 points and five rebounds to lead Ratiopharm Ulm, while Patrick Miller handled quarterbacking their offense with a balanced 15 points and eight assists to his name.

With Round 1 now officially in the books, we will soon see which teams will separate themselves in their respective groups as more games are played in this phase.
