ABA League Wraps Up 2017-18 Regular Season

ABA League The 2017-18 regular season of the ABA League is officially in the books. The playoff picture, which jumps straight into a semi-final knockout format is set. The final two games of the season were played out on March 12th and featured the top-2 finishers of the season. True to form, they won their respective matchups. Crvena Zvezda Beograd came through with a 107-69 blowout victory over Cibona Zagreb. Red Star secured its top spot as early as the last round but ends up with an impressive 19-3 record.

In the second game, Buducnost came up with their own dominant win. This time, they downed FMP, 87-64. Nikola Ivanovic led a balanced attack which was too much for FMP’s defense to handle. Buducnost rained down 12 triples on FMP and bombarded them into submission.

Crvena Zvezda (19-3) will face Mornar Basket Bar (14-8), while Buducnost (17-5) will be matched up against Cedevita Zagreb (17-5) in the semis.

Surprisingly, annual competitor and long-time league powerhouse, BC Partizan Beograd found themselves on the bubble with their 11-11 record. They were competitive early on but ran into some struggles and dropped key games in 2018. As they say, there’s always next year. For now, our attentions are drawn to what should be an exciting playoff race.
