EuroCup

BC Partizan mts Beograd continued on its rampage through the 7Days EuroCup on Tuesday night, taking Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar as their latest victim, via an 80-71 victory.

They’re off to a 4-0 start and have thus far, looked unstoppable. Loko are no pushovers this win can be considered a quality one. Former champions, Lokomotiv Kuban fall to 2-2, but with the season still in its early stages, there’s a lot more basketball to play out. Partizan remains the team to beat at the moment and they have been on fire from the get-go.

This game was about them doing the right things on offense and defense. Their laudable two-way performance kept them in control of the game in the first quarter as Partizan rushed ahead 24-18.

Loko would finally make their run in the third quarter, even seizing a one-point lead. But an unrelenting Partizan would find offense from Rashawn Thomas, who delivered 14 points to spearhead his team’s scoring in the clutch.

The secret sauce to Partizan’s success came from their depth. Their reserves delivered 29 points on the night, compared to just six from Loko’s.

Partizan was not reliant on any one superstar, with Thomas leading the way with 16 points. At least eight of Partizan’s players scored seven points or more, indicating an inclusive and unselfish style of play that’s clearly generating positive results thus far.

Will Cummings and Sam Dekker were the top scorers for Lokomotiv Kuban, posting 17 points each. Alan Williams came up big with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double.

There were three other games on tap for the night and we saw Umana Reyer Venezia beat Limoges CSP Elite, 93-85. Maccabi Rishon Le Zion fell to MoraBanc Andorra 67-86.

Lastly, Promitheas Patras gave Virtus Bologna their first taste of defeat this season. They gutted it out, despite being undermanned and came away with a 78-69 win.
