2012 IBA title to Soldiers

The top seeded Kankakee County Soldiers knocked off the third-seeded Albany Legends 150-116, the past weekend at the Genesis Convention Center, in Gary, Indiana, thus becoming Champions of the Independent Basketball Associations spring basketball season. The Soldiers claimed their second Championship of the year, as they were also the champions of the IBA winter season. Albany was looking for their second championship in the last three years this weekend. The Soldiers were led by Stan Chismark (6’5”-F-84, college: Olivet Nazarene) ‘s 34 points, while Ryan Edwards (6’5”-F-83, college: Missouri Baptist) netted 33 points while grabbing 10 rebounds in the game. Kankakee closes out their spring season with a stellar 15-3 record. For Albany, Lloyd Johnson (5’11”-G-85) once again led with 31 points, while Joshua Jones (6’5”-G/F-88, college:Husson) chipped in with 19. Three other Legends would score in double figures in the game. Ernest-Joseph Gallup (6’4”-G-81, college:Co Carolina) scored 16, while College of Saint Rose alums Brian Hanuschak (6’7”-F) and Zach Bye (6’4”-G/F, college:St.Rose, NY) had 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Albany Legends had defeated in semifinal the Kenosha Ballers 136-134, while the Soldiers had prevailed over the Gary Splash 123-113.
