More teams affected by COVID-19
As reported earlier, three players of CSKA Moscow have tested positive for COVID-19, but more teams have problems. Fellow Euroleague teams Crvena Zvezda Belgrade (import player Emanuel Terry) and Khimki Moscow Region (Jordan Mickey, Janis Timma, and Evgeny Voronov) have also reported confirmed COVID-19 cases. Previously Barcelona’s head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and assistant Darius Maskoliunas had also tested positive. This weekend, the Spanish ACB game between Herbalife Gran Canaria and Real Madrid was postponed due to the home team’s infected players. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg as the focus is on the top teams in Europe, but what about all the other leagues and teams worldwide? French team Elan Bearnais Pau Lacq Orthez just announced that the whole team tested positive!
We can expect constant modifications to the game schedule, postponed games, regional lockdowns, and maybe even a change of the competition format in the middle of the season. Not to mention the fact that practically every league plays games without spectators. One thing is for sure; the 2020-2021 season will be like no other.
