Spurs dominate Thunder anew, go up 2-0

NBA – The San Antonio Spurs once again took advantage of the absence of Serge Ibaka from the Oklahoma City Thunder’s lineup and easily took the 112-77 win. The Thunder were outclassed and succumbed to San Antonio’s tight defense, which allowed them to shoot only 39.3% from the field. San Antonio ran away with the game in the second and third quarters, where they outscored Oklahoma City 67-36.

Tim Duncan put together another solid game with 14 points and 12 boards, but the night belonged to Tony Parker, who led the team with 22 points and five assists; and Danny Green who exploded for 21 points and three steals. Green shot the lights out of Oklahoma City, nailing seven of his ten shots from deep. Not to take anything away from Green’s hot shooting night, but the Thunder were out of it and their perimeter defense paid a hearty toll for its lapses.

The Thunder’s superstar tandem of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were held to just 15 points apiece. They combined for 13-40 from the field and just 1-9 from downtown.

Despite this win, the Spurs are not resting on their laurels just yet. The memory of the 2012 Western Conference Finals are still fresh in their memories. A series where they were up 2-0 and the Thunder came back 4-0 to move on to the NBA Finals.
