Jaka Lakovic agrees to terms with Sidigas Avellino

Slovenian guard Jaka Lakovic (186 cm) has agreed to terms with Italian team Sidigas Avellino (Serie A) . An announcement is expected soon detailing his contract signing. Lakovic most recently played for Galatasaray Medical Park Istanbul from Turkey’s TBL. In 19 games playing in the Euroleague Lakovic averaged 9.9 ppg and 2.7 apg. In 35 games in the Turkish League he averaged 10.5 ppg and 2.9 apg. He was with Galatasaray in 2012 when it was regular season champion and made it to the league semi-finals.

Lakovic has previously played for Regal FC Barcelona from Spain’s ACB. He averaged 9.9 ppg and 2.7 apg in 19 games in Euroleague, and 5.1 ppg and 1.3 apg in 39 games in the Spanish League. The 34-year-old played for Regal FC for five straight seasons and was with the team when it won the Euroleague in 2010. Before playing in Spain he spent four straight seasons in Greece playing for Panathinaikos Athens (A1 League). It will be the first time in twelve years that Lakovic plays for a team that does not participate in the Euroleague and is not a title contender in the domestic championship. Avellino is currently ranked 14th in the Italian Serie A with a 4-12 record.
