Adriatic League: MZT Skopje stuns Red Star

Adriatic League

In what was arguably the most surprising game of the 12th round of the Adriatic League, KK MZT Skopje Aerodrom surprised league-leading Red Star Telecom in what was a low-scoring contest, 65-58. The game was hosted by the FYR Macedonian team and home court was just another ace up their sleeve for the night. Red Star retains the league leadership with a record of 9-3, even though BC Partizan has an identical win-loss sheet. MZT Skopje on the other hand, climbs up into eighth place with their 5-7 record.

Even though  the game started off slow, with MZT Skopje inching ahead after the first quarter 18-17. They slowly pulled away in the second frame and finished the first half up by eight, 36-28. Red Star came back after the break and brought down the lead to three entering the final period. MZT Skopje tightened up their defense by the fourth quarter and managed to hold the visiting club to just 12 points for the final quarter and squeeze by with the win.

Cade Davis led the victors with a game-high 19 points off the bench. Fellow reserve Ivan Marinkovic added 11 points of his own. Coach Zoran Martic stuck with whoever seemed to have the hot hand for the game as he sought to find offense where he could.

DeMarcus Nelson and Rasko Katic scored 13 and 12 points respectively to lead Red Star.
