Patrick Ewing will be joining the Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte Bobcats as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 NBA season. Ewing’s long-time rival from his days as a player for the New York Knicks will now be his boss. Ewing has had a good relationship with recently hired head coach Steve Clifford.

Ever since his retirement as a player in 2002, Ewing made a quick transition to a role as an assistant coach. He spent one season on the Washington Wizards bench in 2002-03. He later moved to the Houston Rockets where he spent four seasons, spanning from 2003 to 2007. From there he transferred to the Orlando Magic staying with them as an assistant coach from 2007 to 2012.
