NBA mulling G-League expansion in Mexico

NBA There are currently 30 NBA minor league teams. A 31st franchise could soon be established in Mexico City if the NBA goes ahead with a G-League expansion. NBA commissioner Adam Siver is taking a serious look at opening up the NBA to the southern border.

The NBA will announce a new basketball development and training academy in Mexico City during the Global Games December 7th and 9th, in conjunction with CONADE (Mexico’s National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport) and the Mexican Basketball Federation

A G-League expansion into Mexico would be a very logical step for the NBA as it tests the waters of expansion in new territory. Mexico has the advantage of geographical proximity to the rest of the league. Its advantages and disadvantages will be closely scrutinized by League officials as it studies this intriguing and promising prospect.
