NBA Summer League: Lonzo Ball drops 36 points on Sixers

Lonzo BallLos Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball put one of the best rookie performances in the ongoing Las Vegas NBA Summer League Tournament. He put up a monster stat line with 36 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, and two blocks; leading his team to a 103-102 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Ball was selected second overall in the recent 2017 draft by the Lakers. He’s a local boy who grew up in a family filled with Laker fans. This is a dream-come-true situation for the UCLA product. He had a forgettable debut but was able to follow it up with a 11-11-11 triple-double, then now this multi-cat explosion.

While the performance should still be appreciated within its context of being an NBA Summer League game, Lonzo was able to give Laker fans something to look forward to, at least as far as catching a glimpse of his potential for the future. Los Angeles traded away former number two pick, D’Angelo Russell to make room for Lonzo, making it crystal clear that it’s Ball who will be the future face of the franchise.

Lonzo was not the only Laker to shine in this game. Ivica Zubac also chimed in with 21 points, two steals, and two blocks.
