Klay Thompson Breaks NBA Record for 3-Pointers Made in a Game

Klay Thompson Klay Thompson shook off a slow start to the 2018-19 season in epic fashion on Monday night against the Chicago Bulls. Everyone knew that the Warriors were in for a cake walk against the injury-plagued Bulls, but to what extent, was something even the brightest experts did not foretell.

Thompson scored 52 points before the end of the third quarter and set a new NBA record for 3-point shots made in a game with 14. He was just delirious on offense as he went 18-for-29 from the field and made 14-of-24 of his shots from downtown.

Klay is a renowned 3-point shooter who is always at the ready for an eruption such as this one. He felt it. He knew it was his night.

“I just knew I was due for a big night,” Thompson said. “I just knew it.”

“It’s the best feeling,” Thompson said of being in the zone. “Something I haven’t felt in the first six, seven games. To snap out of a slump with the record, I couldn’t ask for a better way to do it. And I’m just going to continue this momentum on Wednesday, and it’s one of the best feelings in basketball when you touch the ball and feel like it’s going in every time.”

The previous record holder was his own teammate, Stephen Curry with 13.  Curry did not mind that it was Thompson who broke his record. The duo is not nicknamed the “Splash Brothers” for nothing.

This milestone will be one of many in Thompson’s career as he’s likely to be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in the future.
