John Patrick has been hired as the new head coach of Neckar Riesen Ludwigsburg (Germany-BBL), according to the club’s Twitter account. Patrick replaces the recently released Steven Key. He was most recently head coach of s.Oliver Baskets Wuerzburg (Germany-1.Budesliga) in 2011-12. Patrick coached Goettingen (Germany-1.Bundesliga) for seven seasons (2003-05, 2006-2011), with a tour in Japan as coach of Toyota Alvark in the Superleague in 2005-06. While coaching from 2006-2009, he was also a part-time player. Patrick’s playing career started with four years of collegiate ball at Stanford from 1987-1991, then he started his professional career in Japan in 1992, ending as primarily a player in 2005 with Goettingen.
