Joan Plaza to coach Unicaja Malaga

It didn’t take too long for Spaniard Joan Plaza to “come to a decision” regarding his future, after parting ways with B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania. He will be the new head coach of Unicaja Malaga from Spain’s ACB. Plaza is coming in to replace Croatian Jasmin Repesa whose contract was not renewed by the club. Repesa parted ways with Unicaja due to ACB rules that will not allow him to coach in the league. Jasmin is currently the head coach of the Croatian National Team.

Before his one-season stint with B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas, Plaza was a head coach in the ACB for six seasons. He coached for Real Madrid and Cajasol Banca Sevilla. He won a Spanish ACB Championship in 2007 with Real Madrid.
