Jaka Lakovic retires from Slovenian NT

Jaka Lakovic (186 cm) has announced his retirement from the Slovenian National Team. The 35-year-old long-time starting point guard of the Slovenian squad has been a member from 2001 to 2011 and then again in 2013. In his most recent run, directing traffic for his team, Lakovic averaged 3.6 ppg and 1.9 apg in 11 games during the 2013 European Championships. He was also a former member of the Slovenian U22 NT in 1997-98.

Lakovic currently has one more season left in his contract with Italian Serie A team Sidigas Avellino. This 2013-14 season Jaka posted averages of 10.2 ppg and 4.0 apg.
