Gonzaga beats BYU for 14th WCC Title

Gonzaga was impressive as it took down BYU 91-75 took claim its 14th WCC title. The seventh ranked University put on display why they are a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming NCAA tournament. They are en route to their 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Gonzaga’s Kyle Wiltjer led the charge with a strong double-double performance, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He was just one of six Zags Bulldogs to score in double figures.

Gonzaga’s offense was crisp and on point. They moved the ball very well and made good use of floor spacing to open up cutting and passing lanes. BYU’s Kyle Collinsworth did his best to keep his team in step with their competitors and he ended up with a valiant effort for the losing team with a game-high 28 points. His strong play allowed BYU to trail Gonzaga by only six points at the end of the first half.

The thing with Gonzaga is that once they seize the initiative it is very difficult to swing the momentum away from them. In the second half they knocked down some key three-pointers and continued their excellent offensive execution to finally pull away and eventually take the win. The nailed 8-of-12 shots from downtown during the game.
