Fenerbahce advances to Turkish League finals

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul has punched its ticket to the Turkish League (BSL) finals after completing a clean sweep (3-0) of their semi-finals series against Tofas Bursa on Thursday.

Nikola Kalinic came through with a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double. Bobby Dixon led a balanced Fenerbahce attack with 12 points, as no active player on their side scored less than seven points.

Fenerbahce controlled the action on the glass with 32 rebounds compared to 23 from Tofas, but it was an ugly game as they could not take care of the rock too well and they committed 18 turnovers.

Three players from Tofas paced the team with 14 points; Sammy Mejia, Frank Elegar, Yigit Arslan. Kyle Weems was noticeably quiet and was limited to scoring 11 points in this must-win game.

Fenerbahce now books a grudge-match derby game against Anadolu Efes, who slid past them in the semis of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague before eventually falling to CSKA Moscow in the finals. Back then, Anadolu Efes had the advantage of Fenerbahce having to nurse more than their fair share of injured players. The Turkish League finals could give Fenerbahce a shot for redemption and maybe even a little bit of payback. That will be some must-watch basketball for sure, especially for fans of Turkish hoops.
