The ECA EBoard will make it’s final recommendations prior to the July 3rd ECA Annual Shareholders Meeting, which will be held in Barcelona.

The list includes 23 teams that would be slated to compete in Euroleague competition and eight that would play in a qualifying round for the final slot in the Euroleague regular season.

For six teams of the 23 recommended for inclusion this would be their inaugural season. Included in that group are JSF Nanterre, French LNB League Champions; Stelmet Zielona Gora, Polish League Champion; Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade, Adriatic League runner-up; Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, Russian League runner-up; Budivelnik Kiev, one-year wild card replacing Asseco Prokom Gdynia; FC Bayern Munich, one-year wild card; Strasbourg IG, French LNB runner-up, one-year wild-card replacing Acea Virtus Roma, who announced that they would not compete in the 2013-14 Euroleague.

The eight clubs that will be given the opportunity to ‘play-in’ to the Euroleague are CEZ Basketball Nymburk; Czech Republic National Champions; Telenet Ostend, Belgium National Champions; VEF Riga, Latvia National Champions; Banvit Bandirma, Turkey National runner-up; Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius, Lithuania National runner-up; EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Germany National runner-up; BC Khimki Moscow Region, Russia, wild-card; Cimberio Varese, Italy, wild-card.

The 2013-14 Euroleague season will be played the same as was introduced in 2012-13 with the eight qualifying teams playing in a single-elimination tournament with the winner filling out the 24-team Euroleague. The league will be divided into four, six-team groups that will play each other twice in a home-away series, with the top four clubs in each for the four groups moving on to the Top-16. There will be two groups of eight teams in the Top-16 that will play each other team in their group twice in a home-away series with the top four in each of the two groups advancing to the Final Eight. They match-ups in the Final Eight will be best-of-five series, with the winners moving to the Euroleague Final Four.
