Olympiacos officially eliminated from EuroLeague playoffs after loss to Fenerbahce

Olympiacos saw its three-game winning streak in the EuroLeague come to an end on Friday night and has been officially eliminated from the playoffs.

The “Reds” lost for the 17th time this season, this time to Fenerbahce at Piece and Friendship Stadium (71-76).

The Turks led from start to finish and endured the comeback of Olympiacos from a double-digit deficit to seal the deal and eliminate the Greek giants.

Olympiacos couldn’t maintain its momentum and dropped to 14-17 in the standings. On the other hand, Fenerbahce improved to 19-12 and maintained a top four push in the EuroLeague, with three games to go.

Zenit Saint Petersburg managed to return to the winning track, thanks to its dominant win over Khimki on the road (70-91).

The visitors took control of the game from the second quarter onwards and never looked back, cruising to an easy victory.

Zenit improved to 17-13 and remained within the EuroLeague playoff zone. On the other hand, Khimki dropped to 3-27, remaining on the bottom of the standings.

Baskonia boosted its playoff hopes after rallying past Armani Milano at home (86-69). The Basques were unstoppable in the second half and outscored their opponents 53-37 to claim the victory.

This was the eighth win for Baskonia in the last nine EuroLeague games, improving to 17-14. On the contrary, Armani dropped to 19-12, losing its second straight.

FC Barcelona became the first team that secured the home-court advantage in the playoffs, after its 80-67 win over ALBA Berlin.

In a hard-fought battle, a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter sealed the outcome for the Catalans.

FC Barcelona (23-8) has already advanced to the EuroLeague playoffs and is very close to securing the first place in the standings.

On the other hand, ALBA has been eliminated and now is at 11-20.
