Lonny Baxter inks with Gaiqueries

Venezuelan LPB team Gaiqueries de Margarita has announced the signing of Lonny Baxter (203 cm, Maryland’02); the American will join until the end of the current season. The Venezuelan league stopped on March 5th when the country’s president Hugo Chavez died but the LPB is ready to get back underway and Baxter will be joining up with Gaiqueries.

Lonny Baxter has been a free agent this season after leaving Russian team Enisey Krasnoyarsk (PBL) in the summer of 2012. Last season with Krasnoyarsk Baxter played 8 games in the Eurochallenge where he averaged impressively with 16.0ppg and 4.6rpg. During the campaign the 34-year old also played 16 games in the VTB United League and 13 games in the Russian League.

Baxter is a former NBA center who played 55 games for the Chicago Bulls during the 2002-2003 season. With the Bulls he averaged 4.8ppg and 3.0rpg.
