FC Barcelona beats Real Madrid in “El Clasico”

FC Barcelona  Round 7 of the 2016-17 season in the Spanish Liga Endesa is in the books. The most anticipated game of the round was an “El Clasico” encounter between FC Barcelona Lassa and Real Madrid. In this chapter of their eternal rivalry, FC Barcelona would end up prevailing 85-76. Real Madrid was previously undefeated before this game and having to taste their first loss at the hands of Barca, must have left a sour taste in their mouths. Both clubs now have identical 5-1 records, however due to the result of this game Barca slides over to secure the second place in the Liga Endesa standings.

The first half of the game was controlled by the hosts, Barcelona. They outscored Real Madrid 20-15 in the first period and built on their lead further thanks to a huge second quarter. By the time the teams had to head to their respective locker rooms for the halftime break, Barcelona’s lead had ballooned to 16 points!

Not to be easily outdone, Real Madrid fought back in the second half. While they outscored Barcelona on a per quarter basis, the totals were not enough to erase the massive lead Barca had in its favor.

FC Barcelona got a big game from Ante Tomic, who put forth a well-rounded line with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots. He was a force Real Madrid simply could not contain, nor find the answer to. Stratos Perperoglou  was not too far behind, chipping in 18 points of his own.

Dontaye Draper was the top scorer for Real Madrid, finishing the game with 13 points and two treys.
