Barcelona rallies past CSKA Moscow to sweep EuroLeague season series

Barcelona made an emphatic statement in Moscow and rallied past fellow EuroLeague powerhouse CSKA (75-88).

The Catalans outscored the Muscovites 34-46 in the second half and cruised to the win.

Cory Higgins was the top scorer for the winners, with 25 points against his former team.

Barcelona improved to 14-6 in the EuroLeague standings and swept the season series against CSKA (0-2).

On the other hand, CSKA dropped to 15-5, but remained on top of the EuroLeague.

Zenit Saint Petersburg stood tall and protected its home court against Zalgiris Kaunas (77-65).

The Russians took over in the second half and never looked back, cruising to the victory.

Zenit maintained a playoff push after improving to 12-6. On the other hand, Zalgiris lost its second straight and dropped to 11-9.

Fenerbahce crushed Panathinaikos at home (100-74) and remained alive in the playoff race.

The Turks never trailed in the game and claimed their biggest win ever against Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague.

Fenerbahce extended its winning streak to five games and now has a 10-10 record.

On the other hand, Panathinaikos remained close to the bottom, at 6-13.

ASVEL Villeurbanne relied on its defense and stunned Olympiacos in Piraeus (63-69).

The French endured the comeback attempt of the “Reds” and snapped a four-game losing streak.

ASVEL improved to 6-13, whereas Olympiacos dropped to 10-9 in the EuroLeague standings.

The two teams will meet again on Tuesday (19/1) in a EuroLeague Round 10 makeup game.

Real Madrid outscored Bayern Munich 4-9 in overtime to earn a big road win at Audi Dome (76-81).

Despite leading for the majority of the game, the “Whites” needed Gabriel Deck, who sent the game to overtime, in order to prevail over their opponents.

Walter Tavares had a career-high 26 points for the winners, who improved to 13-6.

On the other hand, Bayern dropped to 12-8 in the EuroLeague standings, but it is still in the playoff zone.
