Ernest (J.R.) Bremer (194 cm, St. Bonaventure’02) has been released by Fenerbahce Ulker (Turkey-TBL). Bremer played in 6 Turkish League games and 9 Euroleague games and was averaging 3.8 points per game and 1.4 points per game, respectively. Last season he started with BC Nizhny Novgorod (Russia-PBL) and played in 8 Russian League contests pulling in averages of 13.4ppg and 3.5apg; 11 VTB League games: 11.5ppg and 5.2apg (3rd in the league); 9 EuroChallenge games: 15.0ppg, 5.0apg (4th in the league), 1.6spg (3rd in the league). He moved to EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (Italy-SerieA) and compiled an 8.4ppg and 2.4apg average over 18 Italian League games. Bremer graduated from St. Bonaventure in 2002, where he was a four year member of the basketball team. He played in 112 games while with the Bonnies, finishing his career with a 15.5ppg and 3.0apg average. His senior year he burned the cords for 24.6ppg and finished 4th in the NCAA in scoring average. Bremer went undrafted in the 2002 NBA draft, but was signed as a free agent by the Boston Celtics and played 64 games (started in 41) during the 2002-03 NBA season, averaging 8.3ppg on 23.5 minutes of court time per game and earning NBA’s All-Rookie 2nd Team honors. Boston traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 2003 and he played in 31 games, averaging 3.3ppg on 13.0 minutes per game. The Cavs released Bremer in March of 2004 and he was picked up by the Golden State Warriors a week later on the first of two 10-day contracts and then was signed for the remainder of the season. Since 2004 he’s played for numerous European clubs in Spain, Italy, Bosnia and Russia.
