Dru Joyce moving to AS Monaco

Dru Joyce

Dru Joyce (185 cm, Akron ’07) will now suit up for AS Monaco (France-Pro A). He heads to France next season which will be a first for Joyce in his career. Since going pro in 2007, the point guard has only seen action in Germany, Poland, and in Belarus for a portion of last season. Tsmoki-Minsk (Belarus-VTB) is where Joyce began his 2016/2017 campaign. Appearing in 18 VTB games, he managed to play well with totals of 14.2 ppg and 6.4 apg. The team relied on him heavily as he found 36.1 mpg. The veteran guard was able to handle the high minute total and impress the Belarus league with an All-VTB honorable mention in his only season.

After the season with Tsmoki-Minsk, Joyce transferred over to FC Bayern Muenchen (Germany-BBL). The move came with about two months remaining in the season, so Joyce was around for 16 games. He didn’t see much playing time with the German squad with only 14.8 mpg. His job of being a backup was no issue as he still produces 3.7 ppg with 2.9 apg.

After an adventurous year, the guard now makes his move to Monaco. Last season, the team dominated the Pro A, going 30-4 which won the regular season crown. Joyce will have a tough time breaking the starting lineup, but the veteran can thrive in any role needed for the team.
