Bertans joins Grescrap Bilbao

Gescrap Bizkaia Bilbao Basket (Spain, ACB) has announced the signing of Latvian shooting guard Dairis Bertans (192 cm) from VEF Riga (Latvia, LBL).The 23-year old will join Bilbao for the 2013/2014 season after the team recently crashed out of the Spanish ACB play-offs to Regal Barcelona.

Dairis Bertans has had a busy season with VEF Riga. In 26 LBL games he averaged 12.3ppg, 2.6rpg, and 3.0apg, while in 12 Eurocup games the shooting guard managed 10.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. The move to Gescrap Bilbao will be the first time that Bertans has played for a club that does not hail from his native Latvia.
