CSKA seals deal with veteran swingman Zozulin

Turkish Airlines Euroleague runner-up CSKA Moscow bolstered its squad with the signing of veteran swingman Alexey Zozulin, who arrives from Spartak St. Petersburg. Zozulin (1.99 meters, 29 years old) and CSKA agreed to terms for one season with an option on a second year. He helped Spartak reach the Eurocup Finals by averaging 4.3 points on 46.4% three-point shooting over 16 games. Zozulin was also worth 3.8 points and 2 rebounds in the Russian League.

Zozulin has also played for Ural Great, Sibirtelekom-Lokomotiv Novosybirsk, Khimik-Avtodor, Arsenal Tula and Unics Kazan in his native Russia. Among his career accomplishments, Zozulin helped Unics to win the FIBA Europe League title in 2004 and won the 2011 Russian Cup with Spartak. Zozulin also played for the Russian national team at EuroBasket 2009.

“I am excited to join one of the best European teams of the decade,” Zozulin said. “Hopefully, I can be useful, and I promise to do everything possible. I think every player dreams of making it to the team of the highest level. I am no exception, I have always tried to get as high as I can. And when the team has the highest goals possible, it is never easy to play for it, so I am ready to do the hard work to help CSKA.”
