Ben Wallace sentenced to one year in jail

Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace (206 cm, Virginia Union’96) was sentenced to one year in prison after the former NBA star pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a car crash in February. The Henrico County judge suspended all but two days of Wallace’s one-year sentence and the player started serving his two-day sentence on Tuesday. What appears to be ending up as a “light sentence” was not deemed unreasonable by a legal expert. An SUV crashed into the fence of a home at around 2 A.M.  The vehicle which was left at the scene contained an expired insurance card which listed Wallace and his wife as policy holders.

Wallace spent nine of his 17-season NBA career with the Detroit Pistons and won an NBA Championship with them in 2004. Ben, who was known for his tenacity, hustle and willingness to do the “blue collar” work most players don’t do; averaged 6.6 ppg, 11.1 rpg and 2.3 bpg during his time in Detroit.
