Armani Jumps to 2-0 Lead in Serie A Finals

Serie A Finals EA7 Emporio Armani Milano surged to a 2-0 lead in the Italian Serie A finals on June 7th after defeating Dolomiti Energia Trento 90-80 in Game 2. The 2016 champions are looking for a quick resolution to this series and are eager to return to the top of the Italian League podium once again. They won convincingly in Game 1 with a 98-85 result and clearly, Armani has the momentum on their side.

Armani shook off a sluggish start in the first quarter and got their game going in the second period to take control of the action. Curtis Jerrells and Andrew Goudelock got into gear and were running on all cylinders in this contest, dropping 27 and 25 points, respectively. Both imports connected on five 3-pointers each, combining for 10 of the team’s 13 made shots from downtown. Once Armani’s offense heats up like this, they are simply hard to catch up to, let alone stop.

Joao Gomes and Shavon Shields paced Trento with 18 and 17 points of their own. It was not enough to match Armani’s assault. Trento will need to go back to the drawing board and focus on their perimeter defense for Game 3, which will take place on June 9th. They need to make some serious changes if they want to record their first win in the Serie A finals.
